Our Work
The variety of life on Earth, its biological diversity is commonly referred to as biodiversity and it is often used as a measure of the health of biological systems. Appropriate conservation and sustainable development strategies attempt to recognize this as being integral to any approach.
Since most of the world’s biodiversity exists in areas inhabited by people wise and long-term sustainable management of the environment becomes necessary as a means to combat poverty in many developing countries. It is a threat to and a violation of the livelihood of poor people when they are made more vulnerable as a result of the destruction of the environment on which they depend. Effective conservation cannot be achieved unless the people who live and rely on those lands are an integral part of the conservation process.
